Senator Martinez is a strong supporter of ASPIRA of Illinois. She believes that ASPIRA gives Latinos and other underserved minorities an opportunity to maximize their academic potential in a culturally friendly environment. The group informed Senator Martinez that their success comes from what they call the “ASPIRA process.” The process gives students skills to advance from the program and succeed in education, community and social activism.

“To ensure that all students in Illinois have an adequate education, we need to continue to research methods that ASPIRA and other successful schools use,” Martinez said. “Replicating aspects of ASPIRA’s educational process gives us ideas to help make our school system the strongest in the county.”
